Dreamtide Children's Choir

about

“Singing is incredibly beneficial to people of all ages. It’s also an integral part of Cornish culture. I believe it is important to nurture musicianship and community in the younger generations, and what better place to start than children’s choirs?”

– Kayleigh Burton, choir leader

Kayleigh Burton began her music studies with singing and recorder, at age 6, then shortly progressed on to the flute. In her teen years, she performed the lead role in her secondary school musical, won 1st prize in competitions such as the Stratford & East London Music Festival and a 2nd Prize for the Lions Rotary Club. Kayleigh also toured internationally with Redbridge youth bands and choirs, performing in Iceland, Italy and Disneyland Paris.

Kayleigh was awarded a scholarship to study flute performance at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, where she gained a Bachelor of Music degree with honours.

Since graduating in 2010, Kayleigh has taught music in a wide range of capacities to children from Nursery up to Year 13 in East London. Class music, instrumental lessons, GCSE composition, school musicals and choirs included!

In addition to teaching, Kayleigh has composed a wide range of songs for children’s choirs. Since 2020, four of her songs have been performed at the Royal Albert Hall by the Redbridge Symphony Orchestra and a 1700-strong children’s choir, which she also conducted. Scroll down to watch some video clips of this!

Being of (half!) Cornish descent and now living in Cornwall, she is excited to begin her own youth choirs and share her music here!
